Join us for a workshop co-sponsored by the Jewish Museum and Institute for Curriculum Services. Understanding the diverse identities of all people is essential for allowing students to develop meaningful connections and a sense of belonging in the world. This session takes a closer look at the rich diversity of the Jewish American community. Using both ICS curricula and works of art in the Jewish Museum's collection, we will explore how Jewish American identity has shaped individuals’ personal lives and influenced broader American society. Guided by educators from ICS and the Jewish Museum, participants will gain practical tools to help students understand the multifaceted nature of identity, for Jews and for all people, and how these unique combinations of identities shape individuals' experiences of and with the world. This workshop is designed for Social Studies, ELA, and art teachers of grades 6-12, but anyone seeking to deepen their knowledge is welcome.
New York State educators may receive 1.5 CTLE hours.
Free of charge; RSVP required
